Let there be Light!!

Lights are now installed and they are on at the house. Always good to see some progress. The electrician has some little things left to do and then I will be done with all the electrical work.
Quite a few lights in the kitchen area. Once electrical is complete, final plumbing will be next.
Yesterday was also cleanup day. As you can see, the grass is very high. I borrowed a friend's weed wacker to knock down the grass. Funny thing is that the vibration from the weed wacker made my right hand swell up. It looked like a rubber glove filled with water. I couldn't even make a fist. I called a friend of mine and he said this was normal when you aren't used to the vibration and it would go down in about 24 hours. thankfully it did!

I am hoping that within the next 30 days, this house will be livable. So there's a lot of work that needs to get done! Say a prayer

Kitchen Cabinets

Here are some pictures of the kitchen cabinets installed. They haven't installed the bathroom cabinets, but I would say that so far these look good! I'll have to pick out some coutertops in the very near future...

Pictures of Flooring

They were actually able to do quite a bit. All of the kitchen area is done. They will be working on the entryway and the hallway next.
It looks pretty good now that it's installed.
Once all the hardwood is down, they'll begin installing these here cabinets... it's finally going to start looking like something. :)

Cabinets and Hardwood

It's been awhile since my last update, but cabinets and hardwood are finally in! The contractors will be putting all this in within the next few days. I'll probably take some pictures over the weekend, so stay tuned! :)

Doors and Primer

This is yet another picture from the kitchen looking across to the family room. As you can see things look a little different! I didn't realize it has been a month since last I posted. They have completed hanging all the drywall and mudding and taping everything. My dad and I then primed all the drywall with white primer. An easy task in terms of difficulty, but when you have a whole house to do, it becomes very tiring. You use a sprayer (which I rented from Home Depot) to spray the primer on. Once it's sprayed on, you use a roller to go over it to provide a little bit of texture once the paint dries.

They have now started hanging all the doors and putting up all the base trim, trim around the windows, and trim around all the openings. I took this picture from the master bedroom. The door on the left is to the bathroom and the door on the right is to the hallway.

This is just a picture looking from the dining room over into the living room.

This is a picture of the two other bedrooms with the doors mounted. Notice that the one on the left is mounted incorrectly. It is swinging out instead of in... I'll have to get the contractor to correct that...

I ordered the flooring on Friday, so that will take about two weeks to show up. The cabinets are also on order and those are about two to three weeks out as well. Things are beginning to come together...

Another Before and After...

Just another picture of before and after. This is a picture taken from the kitchen back in September of 2006. At this point, the 2nd floor wasn't even complete.
Here's a picture of the same area now with drywall up. Now with the drywall hung, they will start putting on the mud and tape to cover up the screws and seams where the pieces of drywall meet. This should take about a week to complete. Once that is done, we'll be moving on to installing the flooring. Here's to hoping everything goes smoothly and we can stay on schedule.

We've Come A Long Way

This is a picture of the family room back in September. I remember when the whole house looked like this... No electrical work, no duct work, no plumbing and most importantly (and obviously) no walls!

Needless to say, it's come a long way. This is that same family room now with walls up. We still have a ways to go, but I am excited about the progress. The interior is now starting to look like something.

Here's a picture from the garage door over to the kitchen area... you can see how messy things are right now. Let's you know that real work is going on. :)

I took this picture from the same location as above but turned so now you can see the entrance to the stairs to the basement and then to the left of that, the doorway to the half bath.
